About Me - Nadia Fantasia

I grew up in South Australia as one of four children. From humble beginnings, weekends were spent together in the backyard, on long bike rides and highlights were family gatherings and holidays around the state with family friends. I now have my own little family and am instilling those same values. Each day is nothing short of hectic and chaotic but full of love.
From school I went straight to University and gained entry to a Bachelor of Social Science (Human Service) and while at the time, I didn’t really know where would lead me- it was this degree that led me to many part-time jobs primarily in support services- particularly in schools and as a mentor for students with significant and multiple needs. It was this that pointed me in the direction of teaching and in 2004 I applied and entered a Postgraduate Bachelor of Education (Special Education). Since this then I have studied further and completed a Master of Special Education and a post graduate certificate in Special Education- ASD/Behavior.
My career into the field of Education began in 2006 as a graduate teacher to an Adelaide Special Education Unit, as a 6-12 Special Education Teacher. After four years in this role, in 2010, I was appointed as the Coordinator of the Special Education Unit for two years. In the years following I have worked in many Catholic schools across Adelaide- in both co-educational and all girls and all boys, and with students of all year levels. My career also led to work as a Behavior Education Consultant for Down Syndrome SA- travelling and working in various DECD, Independent and Catholic settings across the state. In recent times I have also worked as a registered NDIS provider as an Independent Behaviour Consultant and as a tutor at South Australian University.
Over my many years in the field, having a multitude of experiences- I have met and worked with and manage several teams in school settings. My work has enabled me to develop key working relationships with parents and a wide range of students. Given my Special Education background, I am an advocate for Inclusion, and this inform my practice in every way- for every student. I am passionate about working with individuals and their families to enhance skill development in a range of areas.
Over the last 15 years I have been met with great challenges, which have shaped the way I work- and these challenges have been equally matched with an immeasurable amount of joy. I am passionate my work and helping each person reach their full potential.
